PMP Certification (2024)

What is PMP?

The Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification is a globally recognized project management certification that tests a candidate's ability to manage the people, processes, and business priorities of a professional project.According to the Project Management Institute (PMI), there are over 1,000,000PMP certification holders worldwidewhich administers the certification. It is applicable to project managers in virtually any industry, including health, construction, information technology (IT), and business.

 

PMP certification requirements:  

• A four-year degree. 
• Experience in Project Management: 36 months 
• 35 hours of project management education/training. 

                                         OR  

• A high school diploma or an associate degree (or global equivalent) 
• Experience in Project Management: 60 months 
• 35 hours of project management education/training 

 

Note: If you are currently PMI-CAPM® certified, PMI® will waive the 35 hours training/education. 

Is the PMP worth it? 

There are a number of reasons for obtaining a PMP certification:

What is the latest edition of the PMBOK guide required to prepare for the current PMP Exam (2024)?  

• The PMBOK Guide Sixth Edition is no longer valid for the current PMP Exam, and the current PMP exam (2024) is based on the PMBOK Guide Seventh Edition, and the PMI Agile Practice Guide  (Free for the PMI members). 
• You can download the PMBOK Guide 7^th edition (PDF) for free if you are a PMI Member  

 

What’s on the PMP exam (2024)?   

Every single question will be situationally based. In other words, you need the experience to know what they are talking about. We have included many of these questions on the PMP Practice Exams.  

The three domains on the exam have specific topics that they test. Here is a summary of the topics by domain:  

• People: % of questions on the test (42%) 
• Process: % of questions on the test (50%) 
• Business Environment: % of questions on the test (8%) 

The PMP Exam formed of 180 questions and 230 minutes to complete it.  

The PMP Exam has a combination of drag and drop questions, hot spot questions, multiple-choice, and multiple responses questions.

According to the PMP  Examination Content Outline  : About half of the examination will represent predictive project management approaches and the other half will represent agile or hybrid approaches. 

The PMP Practice exams are fully updated with the current PMP Examination content outline, PMBOK Guide, and the PMI Agile Practice Guide.
